The Immaturity of the “Killer Cokers”

(Originally Written May 26th, 2007)

The following was posted by a fellow supporter in the pro-coke group and witnessed by me and many others at the rally. Also, after sending the coke rally emails out to the listhosts, I received emails from many “killer cokers” that set fine examples of the level of debate and rationality these anti-cokers profess with phrases like “sick bastard”, “you’re a loser”, “you hate poor people”, and “you don’t care for non-profits” (my personal favorite as I actually intern at a non-profit):

In an attempt to sabatoge the Pro-Coke movement on campus, supporters of Killer Coke!, who have continued to act in offensive ways, decided to attend the pro-Coke rally. They decided to hold up signs that were down right offensive and rude, and claimed to be part of the “pro-Coke” movement. They were not. These people were part of the Killer Coke! movement, and were attempting to sabatoge the pro-Coke campaign and make them look bad, as they clearly do not like to be threatened by the majority opinion. Among the posters that were held up by supporters of Killer Coke! at the pro-Coke rally were:

“FUCK HUMAN RIGHTS”

“WHAT HAPPENS IN COLOMBIA, STAYS IN COLOMBIA”

“HUMAN RIGHTS ARE NOT THE AMERICAN WAY”

“WHO CARES ABOUT COLOMBIAN WORKERS?”

These are just four examples of the signs held up at the pro-Coke rally by Killer Coke! supporters. This should be taken as coloring a very clear picture of the lows that Killer Coke supporters will go to in order to sabatoge the views of others that are not in support of their opinion. Supporters of keeping Coke on campus have every respect for the protection of human rights but clearly believe that Coca-Cola is not guilty due to the facts surrounding the allegations.
